Will I be able to access my domain name with or without the WWW?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or without the WWW in front. Many web hosting providers do now provide this capability. For example, you can access the domain name "mydomain.com" by going to "www.mydomain.com" as well as "mydomain.com".

Do you offer dial-up internet access?

Not at this time, but we have close relationships with several local Internet Service Providers (ISP) to provide access for you to maintain your web site and retrieve email sent to your site. Providing specialized Virtual Server Services means that we do not have hundreds of modems to maintain. This allows us to devote more time to our customers web presence needs and to enhancements of the entire Virtual Server System.

Can I transfer an existing domain to SenQuest?

Yes, whether you place an order by telephone or via our online order form, be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain. You should keep the service at the present site while waiting for the InterNIC to complete the transfer. We will provide you with a temporary site so you can mirror the site on our server. All email and web pages will still be accessed from your current site until propagation is complete. See Domain Name Registration for more information.

How long does it take before my domain name is active?

Once the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 72-hours before it is active. All internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site locations. This is called propagation.

[Dividing Line Image]

What is the InterNIC fee for domain registration?

The InterNIC charges $70.00 to register a new domain name. This fee covers the first two years. They currently bill at a rate of $35 per year. The InterNIC will send you an invoice via email between 3 weeks to six weeks after the domain is registered.

Does SenQuest limit the number of hits I receive a month?

No. Our experience has shown that 300 to 500 MB/month is more than enough data transfer for 90% of all websites and we use it as a bench mark. Depending on the quantity and size of your files, 1000MB could support many thousands of hits per week.

What is a computer VIRUS ?

A Computer Virus is a program designed to destroy data or halt operation on systems by copying itself into files and executing when those files are loaded. Viruses, which are carried among computers in files contained on diskettes or in online transmissions, usually cause problems on a system. When "infected" files are shared among computers on a company network, for example, the virus can cause extreme damage to a company’s data. With antivirus software, users can avoid "infection" by a virus by "disinfecting" every diskette and file that is introduced to the computer. Viruses can be "benign" or "malignant". "Benign" viruses replicate, but do not do anything malicious. For example, they may beep or display messages on the screen. Malignant viruses do attempt to damage computer resources such as erasing a hard drive.

Did you know?

bulletA virus is a bomb waiting to go off in your machine.
bulletViruses can lay dormant in your computer for months or even years
bulletViruses can "hitchhike" in on diskettes from another location
bulletThere are currently over 6000 viruses
bulletBy the year 2000, the number of viruses will be in the tens of thousands.
